Flashback Friday: Freshman Year

EPISODE TEN: Freshman Year (2006-2007)

-- CHERI --

My freshman year can be summed up in one word: TRANSFER.

Yes... pretty much everyone I was friends with decided to transfer to go someplace different their sophomore year.

Check out this picture.... only one of my friends decided to stick it out!!

Mariah!!  And, boy, am I glad she did!!

And there is one thing that hasn't changed since Freshman year.... Mariah & Gabe.

*Collective sigh*

My least favorite moment from Freshman year had to be when I returned to my dorm room after a weekend away to find it completely trashed.  My clothes were out of my closet and all over the room.  I had two broken picture frames and my flat screen for my computer was broken.   What happened?  My roommate invited her little brother and friends over for the weekend.  They "pissed her off" on Friday night, so she left.... for the weekend!! Leaving her brother and friends in our room to do what they please.

She never apologized, I got a new roommate at semester, and you probably guessed it... my original roommate TRANSFERRED!

--MEGAN--

Highlights include meeting Brenda's sister in the science hall and her telling me about her Freshman sister I should meet!

Touring the Brewers stadium with the Marketing Club

Playing rugby.

Service trip to Chicago with Brenda.

Living in Binz and moving to another floor with Celie for the 2nd semester because my roommate was crazy (lounged around naked, wrote on my ceiling, at ate my food, used my soap, etc.)

And the Antioch retreat that actually persuaded me to stay at Loras!

Anyone else want to share a summary of your Freshman year?  Send me pics and a few details and I'll post them!!

Flashback Friday: Covered in News

EPISODE NINE: Our Apartment Gets Newspapers (April 2005)

Our upstairs neighbors got bored one night and decided to steal newspapers from Megan's room and cover our entire kitchen & living room with them.  They must have been really bored.

Who took these pictures, anyway?  Did I?  Was I there?  Because I don't remember this....

Adam, Troy, and Brian.

Megan eventually came home and was able to smile about it all.

Wait... it looks like Brenda was home the entire time!

Someone fill me in... obviously, I don't remember the details of this momentous event.

Flashback Friday: David Turned 21

EPISODE EIGHT: David Turns 21 (February 2006)

.... and all I got were pictures of him taking shots! Haha... enjoy!

And then we got back to the apartment where David confessed his love for everyone....

.... including Jesus.  (I have video of this, but I thought it might not be the best idea to post it. Haha!)

Love you, David!

Flashback Friday: New York City

EPISODE SEVEN: New York City Choir Tour (May 2006)

We went to NYC for choir tour senior year and I took 27 pictures!! (So much better than the 7 I took in Ireland.)  Ireland freshman year and NYC senior year?  Yeah, I'd call us lucky.  Here is what I remember... (correct me if any of these details are wrong!)

We were all quite tired when we arrived.

Steph and Megan tried to hide their exhaustion with smiles...

... the Arens did not.

At some point, we woke up early to stand in the rain for hours, ready to see a taping of the Today Show.

We also walked in the rain to sing at Carnegie Hall.  (It appears I enjoyed taking pictures of the Arens family  while they were wet.)

Jonny!!

Two of my favorite boys.

We ate a meal on the steps of Wallstreet.

Look, a flag!!! (Oh wait, Megan & Jonathon are in this picture too!)

One of my favorite memories was the walk across the Brooklyn Bridge.

Also on my "favorites" list was some relaxation time in Central Park.

Wait, didn't I say relaxation....??

There we go.  Yes, relaxation.

We ate.  This place was fun. (And yummy!)

We saw the sights.

And some of us weren't alone! Megan's grandma...

And a few parents.

One day early, we said goodbye to Jonathon.  He had to go home to start classes in Davenport.  It was definitely a tearfilled and memorable goodbye!!

We also had an amazing last-night out at an amazing club with two strange men.  We met them at one bar... and then they paid A LOT OF MONEY to get us into another one! Our private booth included drinks, snacks, and a great view of the dance floor.

Here is Megan with the two guys.  (Names?  The one on the right is Clark!)

We all decided Brenda had to kiss Clark because he was so generous.  (And he wasn't getting anything from the rest of us!)

Oh my gosh that night was fun.

We left to return to the hotel VERY LATE.  Subway?  Closed.

We finally managed to make it to our hotel room.  Although, there is a point on our walk that involved Natalie and a bench, that I wish we had on camera!! (Okay.... maybe I'm glad no one got a picture.)

Back at the hotel.  (They did make it into the room... eventually.)

And a very tired/tearful goodbye at the airport.  This picture makes me sad because I remember being SO SAD saying goodbye to all of you as we started our "real lives."

 Happy Friday!
